Become an Eye in the Sky

MapQuest, a popular website for finding driving directions, has quietly added one of the coolest tools I've run across in a long time. Always adept at pinpointing addresses and providing flat, no-frills maps of them, MapQuest now allows you to actually SEE the address. We're talking actual photos here. Using satellite imagery, you can now see every real-life nook and cranny of your own neighborhood, street and home (well, your roof anyway).

You really have to see it to believe it. Here's a shot of my own address:

It's close enough to see where I parked that day (as you can see in the lower left corner of the photo, this shot was taken back in 2000).

Want to try it out? Go to MapQuest perform an address search and when the map comes up click on the "Aerial Photo" tab.

Pretty simple, eh?
